Places to Visit in Karachi

Karachi is one of the biggest cities of Pakistan with many beautiful places to visit. The city was once just a fisherman port but now it is a business and trade hub. The city of lights is popular for its lively people and fun-filled activities. Karachi is both for visitors who love historical places as well as for those who plan a honeymoon on an Island.

Karachi is 1, 409.7 km away from Islamabad. The air traveler can book a flight from Islamabad for 16,300PKR to Karachi and it would take 3 hours to reach there. The train or bus option will cost 15,300 PKR and it would take 32 hours to reach the destination. Personal car owners can reach Karachi in 20,000PKR.

The weather in Karachi is humid and hot mostly. The ideal time to visit the city in October, November, and December. Sometimes even October and November are hot months. The traveler must pack lightweight summer clothes when traveling to the city.

1. Churna Island

A little island in the Arabian Sea, Charna Island is around 6 to 7 kilometers distant. Charna is a gigantic rock that stretches over 1.5 km sq. in the midst of the sea. Cliff diving, jet-skiing, deep-sea photography, investigation of species of the sea is the primary attractions on this island. This is one of the true water entertainment places in Karachi.

This Island is also used by the Navy for shooting practices. The abundance of lobsters makes it a good fishing spot for fishermen. The vast species present in the sea bring a lot of tourists here to Karachi.

2. Mohatta Palace

If you are interested in the development and the tradition of somewhere, manhattan Palace is an excellent destination to visit. It was made by Shivratan Chandraratan Mohatta, who resided for 2 decades in this palace and departed after division for India. The palace is 18,500 sq. ft. in size. It features luxury rooms and nine sleeping dorms.

The Mohatta Palace is nearby the Abdullah Shah Ghazi tomb, there is a secret tunnel leading to a Hindu temple a mile distant. This palace is a museum exhibiting gems and other artifacts from the British era and showcasing subcontinental culture.

3. Quaid-e-Azam House Museum

As the nation’s founder, the personal history and biography of Quaid e Azam is completely imbued with the country’s history. Visit the museum to begin this search or to see the colonial architecture and its serene grounds.

4. Frere Hall

From 1865, Pakistan was part of the British Indian colony, recalling the Frere Hall edifice. The palace now operates as a bookshop and an art gallery, surrounded by a lush green landscape. It was designed by Henry Saint Clair Wilkins, lies in the Saddar neighborhood, home to several other colonial picturesque.

5. PAF Museum

The Pakistan Air Force Museum is a must-see if you adore airplanes and everything aeronautical. There is a lot of aircraft, such as airplanes, jets, radars, and weapons deployed by the Pakistan Air Force during the war against India of 1965. In the vicinity, there are models in World War 1, World War II, and some recent aircraft. The main park also offers meals and a lot of areas to rest. This is one of Karachi’s famous places.

6. Clifton Sea view

It’s the greatest spot to begin if you visit Karachi for the first time. The biggest attraction of Karachi City is the sea view or Clifton Beach. 7. Mazar e Quaid

It is a historical building considering the last resting place of the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. This mausoleum is one of the most visited places for both travelers and locals. The place is guarded by different forces alternatively. It was created and built with white marble by a prominent architect Yahya Merchant.

This work was finished by the end of the 1960s. Mazar e Quaid, known for its design and the ambiance together with lush green gardens, is located in the center of the city.

8. Masjid e Toobah

It was established under the Defense Housing Authority in 1959, also known as the Tooba Mosque or Gol masjid. It is also renowned as the world’s biggest single dome mosque which serves around 5000 worshipers for prayers. The magnificent and beautiful place is built in the 18th century.

This is a stunning mosque with a spectacular infrastructure. The whole mosque is built of white marble stone. The dome is 70 m in diameter and has no central supports. The second major element about the mosque is that it was built by engineers that took account of acoustics, so when someone talks on one side of the cave, they can be heard on the other.

9. TDF Ghar

It is a stunningly calm place in the busy life of Karachi, with its Minton flooring this is a site to watch. The place is well preserved and a famous place in Karachi. The TDF Ghar gives you all the glimpses from the ancient era and one of worth seeing places in Karachi.

10. Haleji Lake

Haleji Lake has situated 70 km from Karachi, Pakistan, in the Thatta district. It’s the largest bird den in Asia and a bird lover’s delight. In the Haleji Lake habitat, over 223 bird species were recorded. Lake Haleji’s area is almost 19 kilometers long.

You may also locate several lovely birds, which are uncommon and unknown elsewhere in Pakistan. The migrated birds are a tourist attraction here.

11. Chaukhani tombs

The Chaukhani tombs are wonderfully carved and complex graves which stretch across 2 kilometers of land are around 30 kilometers east of Karachi. The tombs are constructed in a pyramid form on elevated platforms with ornamental stones, human and figurative structures.

Most of the tombs are family graves and just a handful of them are arranged under Hindu-style pillar canopies. Sculpting a horseman with sword, arrow, and bow on certain male graves can be seen here. Sculptures on women’s tombs depict decorations like wrists, necklaces, rings, anklets, etc. In the case of male graves, the turban of the deceased would be held on the northern sides.

The exact creation time of these graves is not known but there are also graves of Saloch warriors from the 17th and 18th centuries. They are unbelievable and have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
